staff and location
only one nigth for us...
Clean nicely decorated hotel with a helpful staff and a good location. Provides a good value for price.
The building was beautiful and the terrace was great. Staff were very helpful and the location was great.
There was not really anywhere to sit comfortably inside in the hotel, which was a little bit of an issue since it rained like mad when we were there. The Wifi was supposedly only available in public spaces, but we got a weak signal in our room.
The ambience outside and the roof cafe
We were given one price for 3 persons in one room but charged extra for the third person at check out
The hotel had a great location - it was a 7 minute walk to the centre and away from heavy traffic or the masses of people and resturants. The hotel architecture is typically Mexican, full of colour with lots of greenery within. We stayed there with our two young girls, initially for 3 nights but extended our stay for another 3 nights. Despite having no swimming pool, our girls had a great time playing on the hotel grounds, at the water fountain and the terrace. The hotel serves only desayuno but we were so close to a variety of good restaurants nearby so food was not a problem at all. Happy travels!
There is a huge roof terrace at the hotel with a panoramic view of the valley, however it would have been nice to have some sombrillas and comfortable lounge sitting to chill, read or just enjoy the view.
Helpful and friendly staff. Beautifully presented and individual rooms with nice touches, such as folding the towels differently each day! Nice rooftop terrace. Good location for the centre and great views from the roof.
The rooms and common areas are beautifully decorated in traditional Mexican design. The rooms are big enough, with large cushy beds, and ceiling fans. The bathrooms are also nice, with plenty of storage space in the room. The staff were very kind, allowing me to enter my room early (my bus arrived at 7am) before my check-in time with no additional charge and providing me with a good map of Oaxaca's historical district. Well worth the money!
The rooms were big and comfortable but the very best thing was the breakfasts. They were utterly fantastic. (Not included in the price but worth every penny).
The room was lower ground so the room was generally a little dark but it really is a minor complaint. We were aware of the lack of wi-fi so if that's really important to you then avoid.
The hotel was very well organized. We found the staff very helpful. The best part of the hotel is the spacious rooftop terrace. From there you can see a 360 degree panorama of the city. We enjoyed having a glass of wine up there daily.
The hotel is beautiful. The rooms are comfortable. Because it is a small family run hotel the staff has more time to attend to your needs personally. A made to order breakfast was cooked and served on a shaded veranda with a fantastic view of the hills surrounding Oaxaca. The staff was helpful and friendly at all times and were always there to answer our questions. The hotel has free WiFi in the public areas and a desktop computer for use by the guests as needed. They also have a small bar that is open in the evening if you want a cup of coffee or a drink and a piece of Oaxacan cheese cake for a snack. I give them the highest rating possible and would stay there again next time I come to Mexico.
A very genuine Mexican hotel, catering primarily to Mexican visitors. A good breakfast- not included. Friendly cooperative staff.
No chairs for sitting and relaxing. Only one bedside lamp.
Great staff. Roof deck & nice room.
Street noise but we stayed in a more quite area.
Clean, comfortble and quiet location.
I could not print out boarding pass.
We chose Casa del Soltano from the Lonely Planet guide in the Mexico book.. We had a lovely room with windows out onto a lovely courtyard. It was quiet and peaceful. The breakfasts were superb and we ate on a roof top terrace. The staff were friendly and the rooms clean and comfortable. A perfect place for weary travelers. It is a wee way from the Zocolo but for us this was a blessing as there was a teachers strike and the Zocolo and surrounding streets were full of people and tents and tarpaulins and smells. There were many restaurants nearby.
I loved the beautiful courtyard and terraces in the hotel, and the fantastic cafe where we had a delicious breakfast of huevos divorciados and coffee with views over the city towards the Templo Santo Domingo y Guzman. The location is unbeatable, close to all the shops and restaurants and a short walk to the Zocalo and Catedral and and even closer stroll to the Templo Santo Domingo y Guzman.
